Not a ton to report this week. I've been tightening up my story and animatic for sound spotting using the same index card method, and though I've made several dozens of new cards, you've probably gotten tired of seeing me post them.

In the meantime, I've found myself becoming increasingly interested in the animation and design style of the 90's Batman shows—The New Batman Adventures in particular—and it's begun to inform and speed up my drawing process a lot more. For my first foray into incorporating elements of his artwork into my own, I drew a character I'm familiar with with the DCAU's superheroic proportions:

The angularity and simplification of the forms makes putting these types of characters in a 3D space a lot easier, and will help a ton in the animation process. Bruce Timm developed the style for action animation, after all, so those benefits should translate readily into my own animation process.

I did this as an experiment late one night during a break, but my findings have been much more useful than I expected. Drawing my characters has become a lot faster and easier, and it'll be a quick job to come up with a style guide for the animators I've hired. Yay for experimentation!

Will be roughing out more animation this week, so stay posted!
