Per Mike's instructions, I have gone back to basics and boiled down the essentials of the story of Olivia: Space Janitor.
Olivia is a cleanup girl on a space station. She needs help getting rid of junk on the space station, but she's too proud to ask for it. Olivia's inability to get rid of the junk gets in the way of her long-term goals and her day-to-day life. Finally, Olivia asks the people around her for help and finally begins putting her life back on track.
I plan to build story beats around these events and to develop her interactions with the other people on the space station to illustrate her struggle against this junk. Before next class, I should have those beats drawn and the scenes thought out to a reasonable degree.

Great! I am glad you are thinking in terms of a concise story line. So really the film is about Olivia admitting she needs help with her problem? That could be a great metaphor that can apply to many things in our lives.
